Hi Robert,

I just wanted to say thanks for your help regarding the Toyota truck that I purchased a few weeks ago. The whole experience was very easy.

Long before I decided to buy a new truck, I did hours of research on the internet about Toyota models, options, and pricing. I also did a lot of research at various consumer-advocate websites that discussed the sales tactics that dealerships often use on unsuspecting consumers. I also tried using two of the "big" internet purchasing websites, and I was in contact with one of their representatives, but ultimately their service and knowledge was not impressive.

A good friend of mine had used your service a few years ago, and recommended you. Since I did a lot of research, I know for a fact that the price that you secured for me on that Toyota truck was far better than any price that I could have gotten myself.

What I also appreciate is that you kept searching for just the right model and options for me. As I recall, you had located about three or four trucks, and then the last one was just what I was looking for. It was nice that you kept working with me on it, since it took me a little time to make a decision. It was nice that there was no pressure, as compared to what would have happened at a dealership.

Thank you for the best, fastest, and most pleasant car shopping experience of our lives. For a very reasonable flat fee you removed all of the pressure and time-consuming hassle. Previous experiences buying cars at dealerships meant hours filling out paperwork and being pressured into lots of add-on parts and services.

Our experience with HammerAuto was completely different. We were told by several dealerships that the car we wanted wouldn't be available for weeks or months. We submitted a simple one-page lease application, were approved and you had located our car in less than 8 hours. You had the car on your premises the next day. February 6, 2006 - Dear Robert:

Thank you very much for helping us locate the car we wanted at a saving of around $3000 to $5000.

As you know we had already found the car we wanted at a dealer within 7 miles from our home. However, the dealer had absolutely no interest in negotiating with us on the sticker price.

We decided that we had to pay full price for the car, as it was a very popular vehicle in high demand across the country. However, I thought we would at least be able to negotiate a fair lease.

The dealer was making around $7000 profit on the car, but also wanted to markup the lease and make an additional $3000 to $5000 on the lease.

Without your help we would probably not have known that the dealer was sticking it to us on the lease.

You were able to find the identical vehicle at another dealer within two hours from our home, and save us probably around $4000 on the lease.

I am retired now, but in my working life I use to negotiate leases in shopping malls for my stores.

Even though those leases were quite long and complicated, I believe I did a pretty good job of getting fair deals for my stores.

I wish I could have said the same for trying to negotiate a fair lease with this particular dealer, but without your help, I would not have had a clue as to whether the lease was fair or not.

Thanks again for your help. I found your attitude and customer service to be outstanding. It was a pleasure working with you.

We will look forward to having you negotiate all our future car deals, as I don't need that kind of aggravation at this point in my life.

Hi Josh,

I just wanted to thank you for a truly magnificent car-buying experience!

Like most people, I detest the ritualized humiliation that most car dealers put you through as they go back and forth to their manager in that agonizing dance to pummel you into paying an extra few hundred dollars more for a car.

Compare that ugliness to my recent interaction with you:

1) I walk into your office and tell you that I would soon need another car;
2) You ask me what I want in the car;
3) You recommend a car that best matches my needs;
4) I express some concern about my credit and financing;
5) You tell me that you'll look into it and that you'd get back to me;
6) I leave your office 15 minutes after I had first arrived;
7) Four hours after I left your office, you call me back to tell me that I can have the car of my choice with a financing package that reduces my monthly payments by $100.
8) Three days later when I go to pick up my car, I find out that my payments are even lower than your first estimate.

Is that great, or what!?!?

No humiliation, no time wasted, no angst and--dare I say it in this day and age--a feeling that I've dealt with someone with a sense of honor. Needless to say, the car was flawless. And I have no doubt in mind whatever that I got the best possible deal. Unless it is not abundantly clear, let me say that I will never buy another car through anyone other than you guys again!

I will see you again very soon when my other car's lease expires.

I still can’t believe how EASY the whole process was!

I live down the street from Hammer Auto and have driven by the office (and around the delivery trucks) almost every day for the past few years. I had already been through a few painful car transactions at dealerships and didn’t believe that having another “middle-man” would help in the convoluted car buying process. But, as I saw car after car delivered to your office, I decided that I would at least call you before my next purchase. Boy am I glad I made that call!

After gathering my specs and requirements for the sale of my Sequoia and purchase of a new 4Runner, you set off to work. Within a day, you returned with options for my “trade-in” as well as a few options for the 4Runner I wanted. I was pretty specific about the color and option combination that I “couldn’t live without” and was surprised that you were able to find some so quickly. And, the numbers you provided for the sale of my Sequoia were $1,000 - $2,000 ABOVE my best expectation!

I didn’t think it could get better, but it did. Later that evening, after we had already reached acceptable numbers, you informed me that you were able to secure an additional $1,000 for the sale of my Sequoia! Amazing.

A day later, you arranged a loan and scheduled a truck to have the car brought up from Southern California, both at excellent rates. Knowing that it would be a few days before my new car would arrive, I was anxious. I was very excited about my new car, but still nervous about the transactions because it all seemed “too good to be true”.

My new 4Runner was delivered early the next week as promised. I spent less than 20 minutes in the office to complete the paperwork, which was thoroughly explained to me. After a quick walk through of my car, I was the proud owner of a fully-loaded 4Runner with every option I have ever dreamed of.

I cannot imagine buying another car without your help. Please feel free to pass on my information as a reference for future customers.

When BMW called to ask for my impression of my experience buying my new car I had to ask if there were any marks higher than 100%. The BMW representative was not surprised by my request when they found out it was you who sold me the car, your reputation is clearly well deserved.

Before I was told by my colleagues here at Colliers International to purchase my new car through you, I had spent a considerable amount of time searching for an automobile. December 10, 2001 - Dear Mr. Hammer:

I was referred to you by Eric Doss, a friend who said your price could not be beat. Since he had only heard of you and had not actually bought a car from you, I was a little skeptical.

I called you in the early part of this year to get a bottom line, out-the-door estimate on a Mercedes E320 so I could arrange my own loan. I was surprised that you did not try to talk me into any unnecessary options; instead you carefully explained the options I did not understand, and suggested that if the options were not practical to me, I did not need to order them. I then visited dealerships locally and a few out of town and found your estimated price to be the best.

When I called you again in October, I informed you that the price of the car could not exceed my pre-approved loan amount. As you began searching for the car I wanted, you faxed me different options and I carefully reviewed them with a friend. Eventually, due to limited supply, I was not able to get everything I wanted on a 2001 model. So I opted to go with a 2002, which you initially estimated would be about $3000 more. Indeed, when you faxed me the numbers on the 2002, it was $2711 more than the 2001. However, I did agree to this price for the newer model vehicle.

Now here is the real miracle... I arrived at your office with two friends who witnessed how nicely I was handled by your staff. Stefanie went over all of the paperwork completely. She was very patient with all of my questions. Then when it was time to write the check for the car, I was amazed to discover that the contract price was in fact $2404 less than what I had signed for - meaning that you got me the 2002 model for a mere $307 over the price of the 2001. My friends and I are Christians and we expect miracles, but we were truly surprised!

Thank you so much and I will gladly recommend you to all my friends. My friends who came with me when I picked up my car are already telling others about you!

I am writing to express my thanks to you for an extremely enjoyable experience when I purchased my new Subaru.

I must admit that I was more than a bit skeptical at first. I did a lot of research on the Internet and I thought I knew everything about leasing my new car. I also thought I was getting the best deal I could find. I mentioned that I was looking for a new ar to my friend and co-worker, Dr. David Lerner. He told me about Hammer Auto, and that he, his wife, and his business partner had all bought their cars through you. He began raving about how you make the deal so easy to arrange and that nobody can beat the price you get. He said you were "the only way to buy a car." Of course I felt that along with everyone else in the world, he was full of hot air. Being a very persuasive guy, he convinced me to come off my "high horse" and listen to him. It was then that I called you and I immediately began to feel a sense of relief, as there was no "hard sell" or heavy-handed tactics. When you said that you would get back to me in a few days I felt pleased.

In the meantime, I visited my dad who is the world's biggest skeptic about everything. He proceeded to lecture me about how I was going to get "ripped off" by hidden clauses and costs. He said that when I got to your office everything would be different than what had been arranged by phone and fax.

Now this really set me off! Here I thought I was into something really great, and my father the skeptic just shot me down!

I promptly called Dr. Lerner, who reassured me that I was going to get a great deal with nothing hidden or undisclosed.

I forged ahead. When you called me back with the prices I was astounded. Despite my extensive research I was nowhere near the price you quoted me! I ordered the car from you right then!

Instead of being a totally trusting soul, I called my local Subaru dealership. I spoke to the salesperson who had originally taken me for a test drive. He told me to come to the dealership right away and that he would beat any price I was quoted. When I got there I showed him my quote from you [even though you had asked me not to do this very thing!] and he said, "you can never get that car for those numbers." I was scared that my dad was right after all!

As I drove to Palo Alto to pick up my new car I was both nervous and excited. I reached Hammer Auto and there was my beautiful shiny new Subaru! Dr. Lerner told me that the best part of the deal would be that the paperwork would take only twenty minutes. Although you kindly offered to go over the whole car with me, I declined since I had already gone over the whole car on the Internet.

I called Dr. Lerner from the new car on my way home and screeched with delight at the fabulous new car I was now driving. Everything promised to me was delivered!

You are the best, Mr. Hammer! Even my dad had to admit that "This is the only way to buy a car!" Keep up the great work and I look forward to many more dealings with you and your great staff!

March 26, 2001 - Dear Robert,

I wanted to thank you once again for finding my Hyundai Santa Fe. I absolutely love it! I will be forever grateful to you for finding the car of my dreams. I cannot get over how simple it was.

My experiences with internet inquiries (which had pretty much been ignored) and dealers were very stressful. I had no idea while I was doing my research that this car was so difficult to find and that the prices listed were unrealistic. Many dealerships didn't even have any Santa Fe's on their lots and to add insult to injury, I was told I was expected to pay anywhere from $3000 to $5000 over MSRP! I was getting so disgusted that I decided to talk to a broker to see what would happen. After speaking to you for a few minutes, you called me back less than 18 hours later to tell me you found my car. I still can't believe how easy you made everything. You not only saved me several thousand dollars, you found my Santa Fe which included options that saved me even more money on my car insurance premium!

Thanks to you and your very capable staff, I was in and out of your office and enjoying my new SUV in no time AND I did not have to endure any salespeople trying to sell me additional services I did not need or want. In the past, I had felt like the dealers always got the better of me and the first thing I did was remove the license plate holders advertising their dealership. For the first time ever, I have no intention of removing my license plate holder. As silly as it may seem, that speaks volumes about my experiences with HammerAuto.Com. I'd like to take a moment to thank you and your staff for the service that you provided. My first experience with a broker won't be my last.

First you found my Audi TT in record time. I called with a half hearted attempt to see if a broker could find me a car faster than a dealer. The dealer wanted a $500 deposit and were quoting a three month wait. When you called me up five hours after our initial contact with the EXACT car I wanted, I was floored.

Second, was the price. All the dealers wanted a premium for cars on the lot that did not meet my specifications (color and options) or would sell me the exact car I wanted at MSRP when it arrived in three months. You saved me money even after your broker fee.

Finally the auto was delivered in three days. Unbelievable!

Hello Hammer and Staff,

I am so sorry that it has taken me this long to thank you for the great experience I had in leasing my '99 VW Jetta through you. I just hit my 1 year anniversary with the car and it prompted me to send you the letter.

I had totalled my '98 Vw Jetta and a friend ar work gave me an ad of yours from the newspaper. I placed the call to you and the rest is history. You asked me three questions: What model? What color? and Manual or Auto? Within 2 hours, you called me back and said that you had found exactly what I was looking for and when could I pick it up?

I was very difficult to deal with at first because I was so leery about the experience. I had previously purchased 8 or 9 Volkswagens from a dealer and had never dealt with a broker. You provided me with hundreds of referrals to call, which I did. From there it was a breeze.

I was picked up from work and taken to your office. The paperwork was ready for me. This was a big change, because I was used to being "hammered" by the dealership to purchase accessories/ paint/ upholstery/ wheel protections, etc. This is the most distasteful part of working with a dealership. You didn't do that and I am grateful.

I will be back at the end of my lease to see you again for the next one. Thanks again for your patience with me and the best car-buying experience I have had to date.

This is Jeffrey Hing.

If you don't remember me, I'm the one you found two blue Honda Odyssey LX's for a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately for the first one, you couldn't reach me in time, and for the second one I had already bought one at Capitol Honda in San Jose for $1500 dollars more than what you found for me. Boy, I wish I had waited a little longer for you to do your magic. I had no idea you'd be able to find me another one so quick.

I thought I'd relay my post-Capitol Honda experiences as I think you would find them interesting. About a week later after I bought my Odyssey at Capitol Honda, I found out through a TV commercial that they have a 72 hour price guarantee, which the salesperson never told me about. If I knew about it, I could have acted upon it when you found the other blue odyssey for me. So today, I went in and talked with the sales manager Kevin Carpenter about why I wasn't informed about the price guarantee and if there were willing to compensate me through options for the car.

His answers:

We aren't obligated to tell you about the price guarantee.
Your broker never really had the car. He wanted to take you off the market.
I don't have to give you a reason why we inform some customers and not others.
We won't give you any options on the car.

The guy was really defensive and argumentitive, and had the reasoning of a 5 year old in my opinion. I have no idea what answer #2 means about the broker wanting to take me off the market. I asked him again, why would the broker call me up saying he had a car when he really didn't. He shrugged his shoulders. Anyways, the guy really pissed me off. I'll probably escalate this further to the owner or head manager, to at least let them know they have a loser for a sales manager. But I just wanted to let you know that I appreciate your services that much more for every day I have to deal with these creeps.

This letter is to commend Robert Hammer of Hammer Auto for turning a car-buying nightmare into the pleasant and enjoyable experience that purchasing a new car should be.

After personally visiting six local Ford dealerships, and telephoning numerous others, my husband and I had given up on finding the Explorer we had been searching for. In visiting the dealerships, we were lied to and insulted by everyone from the floor sales men to sales managers to fleet managers. After three weeks of this, I no longer had any interest in buying a new car.

Fortunately, I was referred to Mr. Hammer by a work associate. Within three days, not only had he located the exact vehicle we had been looking for (the vehicle we had been told by several dealers "just did not exist in California") but he also negotiated a price that was more than $2,000.00 better than any of the prices we had been quoted in our own negotiations. He also drove me to the dealership in Richmond, checked the vehicle over to make sure it was exactly what we wanted and then went over all the paper work prior to my signing any of it.

We will never again deal directly with a car dealership and would definitely go through Hammer Auto for any future car purchases. I cannot imagine why anyone would buy a car any other way.
